Abstract:

Unidentified earlier barnacles (Cirripedia, Thoracica) collected in the Antarctic and Subantarctic at a depth of 125-860 m and deposited in the collection of the Zoological Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences were investigated. Ten species were identified in the material studied: Lepas australis Darwin 1851, Litoscalpellum aurorae (Bage 1938), L. korotkevitschae (Zevina 1968), Australscalpellum schizmatoplacinum Newman et Ross 1971, Anguloscalpellum angulare (Nilsson-Cantell 1930), Trianguloscalpellum gaussi (Gruvel 1907), T magnaecarina (Nilsson-Cantell 1930), Weltnerium bouvieri (Gruvel 1906), Bathylasma corolliforme (Hoek 1883), and Balanus laevis laevis Bruguiere 1789. The individuals of the species studied were described, illustrated and compared to those from the publications. The data obtained extend the previously known areas of distribution and vertical borders of some species habitats and supplement the data on their morphology.
