Abstract:

weltner (1894, 1922) described four species and one subspecies of calanticids: Euscalpellum squamuliferum, Calantica siemensi, C. studeri, Smilium hastatum and Euscalpellum squamuliferum var. regularis. The type series of these species were reexamined, their capitular and peduncular characters redescribed and their appendages are described in detail for the first time. Euscalpellum squamuliferum regularis is considered a junior synonym of E. squamuliferum. Smilium hastatum, previously considered a synonym of S. smilium, is revalidated. A list of all described genera and recent species, of Calanticidae, including their present taxonomic status is presented.
